Send Us Your Best Stuff

We’re featuring our fund partners in our annual report like never before: Send us photos and highlights from your work this year, and our editorial team may use them in our “Looking Forward Giving Back” publication to showcase what makes your community great.

Don’t forget: All donors to your funds are listed in the annual report. It’s a wonderful way to show your supporters the impact they make.

To be considered for the annual report, you should submit stories and photos by Aug. 14. But feel free to send us items any time throughout the year! We’re always eager to hear what’s up in your communities, and to share those stories in social media, our e-news and other ways. And who better to talk about what’s happening where you live than you? Keep reading for a few tips on submitting.

Include people.

Don’t get us wrong; we love the iconic water towers of our towns and their charming storefronts. But seeing someone’s face (or hearing her story) inspires feelings that bricks and steel can’t.

Show the “why.”

Grants are about helping people. That’s why you do all the behind-the-scenes work it takes to make them happen. Show us how local dollars are changing your communities for the better with quotes and pictures from friends and neighbors you’ve helped.

Get permission.

If it’s not a photo you took yourself or something you wrote, check with the photographer or author to be sure it’s OK to use. And if the subject is a minor, be sure to get permission from his parent or guardian.

Go big.

For print, it’s best to have high resolution photos. If, like most of us, you’re using a phone for your camera, check the settings to see if you can boost the photo resolution. Instead of emailing directly from the camera roll, which could shrink the photo, it may be better to save the photo to a computer and email from there.
