Diving into Development Registration

baton-3More details and event registration are now available for the Diving into Development program taking place October 17th at the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation in St. Paul. This is a great opportunity for fund partner advisory board members to learn more about:

  • The value of planned and major gifts for a community foundation or endowment.
  • How to engage and empower volunteer board members in strategic asset development.
  • How to identify prospective major/planned gift donors.
  • How to make a major or planned gift ask.

Planned gifts are defined as:

“Gifts provided for legally during the donor’s lifetime, but whose principal benefits do not accrue to the institution until some future time, usually at the death of the donor and/or his/her income beneficiary.”

In 2011 the Southwest Initiative Foundation partnered on a statewide transfer of wealth study that projected more than $47.9 billion will transfer from one generation to the next across Minnesota between 2011-2030. The study was conducted on a county by county basis and the information gleaned has challenged us to work closely with professional advisors and local donors to encourage more people to consider leaving part of their estate to local charities.

The generosity that exists throughout our region is undeniable. Fortunately, our fund partners provide a great resource for those who wish to leave a legacy in their community. Please consider having 1-2 (or more!) members of your advisory board attend this event. Reimbursement will be provided for lodging and driving expenses and breakfast and lunch are provided.
